Worldcoin

Founded in 2019 by Sam Altman, Max Novendstern, and Alex Blania, Worldcoin is a project developed by the company Tools for Humanity. Its mission is to build the world's largest identity and financial network as a public utility, giving ownership to everyone. The core of the project consists of three parts: World ID, a privacy-preserving digital identity protocol based on "proof-of-personhood" verified by a biometric imaging device called the "Orb"; the Worldcoin token (WLD), a cryptocurrency freely distributed to people for being a unique human; and the World App, a self-custodial wallet for identity and finance.
