Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF)

The Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF) is a non-profit organization established by the investment industry to protect investors. Its mission is to contribute to the security and confidence of Canada's capital markets by protecting investors in the event of the insolvency of a member firm. CIPF is funded by its member firms, which are the investment dealer members of the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO). If a member firm becomes insolvent, CIPF works to ensure that any client property being held by the firm is returned to them, within defined limits.
