Column is a unique, developer-first bank founded by William Hockey, a co-founder of Plaid. The company was formed by acquiring an existing nationally chartered bank and rebuilding its technology stack from the ground up. Its core mission is to empower builders by providing direct, programmatic access to the US banking system through a modern API. This allows other fintechs and technology companies to embed financial services like bank accounts, card programs, and payment processing (ACH, wire transfers, checks) directly into their own products without needing to partner with a traditional intermediary bank.
