Founded in 1865 in Allahabad, Allahabad Bank was one of India's oldest joint-stock banks. It was nationalized by the Government of India in 1969. For over 150 years, the bank provided a wide range of banking and financial services, including retail banking, corporate banking, and treasury operations, to millions of customers across India. As part of the Government of India's strategic consolidation of public sector banks, Allahabad Bank was merged with Indian Bank, with the amalgamation taking effect on April 1, 2020. All of its branches, assets, and operations are now part of Indian Bank.
