Originally launched as a peer-to-peer (P2P) lending platform in 2014, Flender connected retail and institutional investors with Irish SMEs seeking finance. However, in early 2022, the company pivoted its business model, ceasing to accept funds from retail investors. Flender now operates as a direct digital lender, funding all loans from its own balance sheet with the support of institutional capital. The company's mission is to provide fast, flexible, and accessible finance to Irish businesses to support their growth. Its UK entity, Flender UK Limited, was dissolved in April 2022.
