Excess Share Insurance

Founded in 1993, Excess Share Insurance Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of American Share Insurance, the nation's largest private primary share insurer for credit unions. ESI's core mission is to provide additional insurance coverage for member accounts (shares and deposits) at credit unions that exceeds the standard federal coverage limit provided by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). This allows credit unions to offer their members a higher level of deposit security, making them more competitive with commercial banks. ESI operates as an Ohio-domiciled property and casualty insurance company.
