European Investment Bank

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the development bank of the European Union, owned by the Member States. Established in 1958 by the Treaty of Rome, its mission is to provide long-term financing for sound investments that contribute to EU policy goals. The EIB raises substantial funds on capital markets and lends them at favorable rates for projects promoting climate action, innovation, infrastructure, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), both within Europe and globally.
