Dash (an acronym for Digital Cash) is an open-source cryptocurrency and a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). Forked from the Bitcoin protocol in 2014, it was created to offer faster transaction speeds and greater privacy than Bitcoin. Dash's key features include a two-tier network structure with masternodes that enable services like "InstantSend" for near-instant transactions and "ChainLocks" for enhanced security. The project is self-funded and self-governed through a decentralized treasury system, where a portion of the block rewards is allocated to fund community-proposed projects for the network's development and promotion.
