Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, CRT Capital Group LLC was an independent investment bank and institutional brokerage firm. It provided a range of financial services including in-depth research, sales, and trading across various asset classes such as credit, equities, mortgage-backed securities, and special situations. The firm catered exclusively to institutional clients, including asset managers, hedge funds, and other financial institutions. In 2017, Cowen Inc. acquired CRT Capital Group to enhance its credit and special situations capabilities, leading to the full integration of CRT's personnel and business lines into Cowen.
