Founded in 2014 and based in Berlin, Cringle GmbH developed a mobile payment solution to simplify money transfers for users in Europe. Its primary service was a smartphone app that allowed users to send money to any mobile phone contact, even if the recipient had not installed the app, using their existing bank account. The service operated under the license of a partner bank, Deutsche Kontor Privatbank AG. Alongside its consumer-facing P2P app, Cringle also developed white-label payment solutions for banking partners before ultimately ceasing its operations in late 2018.
