Counterparty

Counterparty is an open-source, community-driven protocol launched in 2014 to extend the functionality of Bitcoin. It operates as a "meta-layer" on the Bitcoin network, allowing users to create, issue, and trade their own custom digital tokens, similar to how ERC-20 tokens function on Ethereum. The platform also includes a built-in decentralized asset exchange (DEX). Its mission is to provide a robust and secure framework for peer-to-peer finance using the security of the Bitcoin blockchain.
