Founded in 2011 by Amrish Rau and Jitendra Gupta, Citrus Payment Solutions Pvt. Ltd. was a leading fintech company in India. It provided a comprehensive suite of payment solutions, including a secure payment gateway for online merchants to accept credit cards, debit cards, and net banking, as well as a popular consumer-facing digital wallet known as Citrus Wallet. In September 2016, the company was acquired by Naspers-owned PayU for $130 million in one of the largest deals in the Indian fintech space at the time. Following the acquisition, Citrus Pay's operations were fully merged with PayU India, and the brand was consolidated under the PayU name.
